Quite often in the event of a fall, a standard harness, whilst protecting the user from hitting the ground, offers little protection if the person swings into other structures. This happens due to the “pendulum” effect on the safety lanyard where the anchorage point is not directly above the user. This is often the case.

The SASH harness is a technological breakthrough in fall arrest. The airbag jacket automatically senses a fall in excess of 0.8 mtrs (0.2 – 0.4 second) and immediately inflates. The battery-operated sensor detects zero gravity, which then activates the inflator canister. The benefits of the SASH are that it minimises the risk of injury to the user due to the “pendulum“effect when a fall is arrested. The SASH inflates around the spine, back, hips, neck, shoulders & chest, thus protecting most of the upper body from injury from striking other obstacles during the arrest of a fall.

Sash Harness, Back

The SASH also provides all the benefits of the RGH2, which comprises a standard rear dee and a chest mounted front dee (see RGH2 data sheet). Utilising either dee, the harness can be fitted with a standard RGL1 lanyard or a rope and grab system (RGA12) for vertical fall protection when an operative is making repeated ascents or similarly, when restraint/work-positioning is needed in either the vertical or horizontal plane.
